Currently, my main research focus is on the role of social rewards, particularly intimacy and connection, in the regulation of emotional investment in romantic relationships. My lab has shown that rewards are a particularly important force impelling commitment to a relationship, and that this process is tied to individual differences in attachmet avoidance. I also maintain interests in acceptance and rejection more broadly, including the experience of social pain.
